Detailed description of diplomatic operations and the defensive war of 1939. Much space was devoted to the aggression of the USSR against Poland on September 17, 1939. The book disappeared from bookstores in a very short time, and the fact that the hidden historical events were made public in a mass circulation was seen as a kind of sensation. The USSR embassy intervened and the book was soon withdrawn from libraries on the orders of the Ministry of Culture. The author of "The Polish War" (born 1930) is a historian, politician, democratic opposition activist during the communist era, founder and leader of the Confederation of Independent Poland.
