(Estr. T. 22). This is the oldest printed missal on Polish soil and one of the most important liturgical works of the early 16th century. Postinkunabul. Work on the Missal began at the behest of the coadjutor of the Diocese of Wroclaw, John V Thurzo (1464-1520), later Bishop of Wroclaw and a great patron of the arts and sciences. As early as 1502, the Breslau chapter contracted with Sebastian Hyber to print a new missal. The printer demanded a guarantee that for ten years no one else would have the right to print the Breslau Missal, and the church authorities would oblige the diocesan clergy to purchase it. The work was printed in Cracow by Kasper Hochfeder, edited by Jan Haller and Sebastian Hyber. Jan Haller (1467-1525), a printer and publisher, worked mainly for the Krakow Academy and the church. In 1505 he took over the printing presses from the famous German printer Kasper Hochfeder (d. 1517), whom he subsequently employed. The offered missal was, along with the "Statute of Laski," one of the first books printed by Hochfeder to come out in a printing house already operating under the name of Jan Haller. The printing was decorated with color. woodcut with gold elements, illustrating Christ crucified, in addition, the 15 pages included colorful initials laid in gold with elements of floral decoration in several cases.
