Staging Folk Rituals, Krakow 1939, Publishing House of the Malopolska Association of Folk Theaters and Choirs, pp. 34, dimensions 15.5 x 23 cm., booklet, stapled binding, minor soiling and folds of the cover, detached corners of the back cover sheet, provenance signature on the cover and pre-title page, minor traces of folds of page corners.
The small publication contains black-and-white photographs of St. John's Day rituals, music notations and lyrics of songs performed on Midsummer Night, and diagrams of dance routines. Clichés of spectacle fragments and decorative design by painter A. Jablonski, clichés of sheet music from the collection of the Society of Lovers of Old Kraków. The book is a contribution to the history of outdoor celebrations held in Cracow- in the pre-war years, including 1939 (the year of the booklet's publication), St. John's Night stagings were an element of the Days of Cracow, and today (since the 1990s) the tradition has survived in the form of Cracow Garlands.
