The diaries written by the Governor General of Lithuania during the suppression of the January Uprising present the perspective of a supporter of brutal repression of the independence movement .The author, who was a supporter of anti-Polish repressive measures, expresses in his diaries his beliefs and attitude towards the uprising. His position is aimed at the suppression and elimination of the Polish independence movement. In his diaries, he portrays his actions as necessary and justified in order to preserve the reign and maintain order. He describes acts of repression and persecution, which he believes were aimed at weakening the independence movement and halting aspirations for sovereignty. The governor general's perspective in these memoirs presents a one-sided viewpoint, focused on repressive actions against the insurgents and a negative attitude toward their goals and actions.
