General Joseph Szymanowski [1779-1867]. took part in many important historical events of the time, including the Napoleonic Wars, the November Uprising and the January Uprising. Among other things, his memoirs describe his personal experiences of these events, as well as his relationships with famous figures of the era, such as Napoleon Bonaparte and Tadeusz Kosciuszko.
