Abrasions of the binding, cracks and tears of the spine. Rust spots in places and non. Traces of flooding on some plates and pages. Foreign dedication on title page, dents on back board, adhesive tape marks approx. 5 cm. Impressive publisher's binding designed by Tadeusz Rybkowski. Gilded page edges. Front cover richly illustrated with patriotic and religious symbols. Matejko began work on the 44 boards in 1890 and continued for 3 years. He attached great importance to the faithful reproduction of both the attire, armament and facial features of the rulers. "Poczet" by Matejko shaped the images of Polish kings in the consciousness of many generations of Poles.
