Escape through the Saints to God or Septennia, Novena..., Warsaw 1768, f. 12 x 19cm, pp.6, 2, 166
Manuscript, 18th century prayer book arranged by "U.Ł." according to Father Joachim Benedict Chmielowski's 1730 prayer book, the content of which the author greatly expanded and adapted to the needs of the rule of the female order.
Period binding, in full embossed and gilt leather, dated 1769 under the initials of the bookbinder (?) "P.M.". Contents preceded by a co-authored Novena to St. Francis Xavier [6 pages written in a different character]. Contents legible, written in clear, almost calligraphic handwriting. The title page is neatly designed and, like the titles of the prayers later in the book, described in red ink. The condition of the volume is original and very good. The binding is still sturdy and aesthetically pleasing, rubbed at the corners, with small pest marks at the bottom, just inside the spine. Contents complete, pages clean, merged with the block of the volume, only the regester with slightly creased page edges is loose. Paper in very good condition, no signs of pests, no extraneous odor. A beautiful example of an 18th century contemporary of the Bar Confederation prayer book, written in the native language, by the hand of an educated Polish.
