Beautifully published, richly illustrated source biography of Chancellor Krzysztof Szydłowiecki (1467-1532) - diplomat, patron of the arts, bibliophile, trusted advisor and supporter of Sigismund the Old. The author was Jerzy Kieszkowski (1872-1923), art historian and lawyer, an expert on the Renaissance. In addition to a biography of the chancellor, the author gives a lecture on the history of culture and art of the Sigismund era, decorated with rich illustrative material. Impressive period binding in wide brown half-leather, spines divided by convex scrolls into six fields, titulature in two fields, gilded decorations in the remaining fields. Beautifully illustrated, collectible edition. Slight soiling to the booklet covers, otherwise very good condition. a nice piece.
