Based on unpublished letters and documents, Herbert Lottman, author of, among other things, a biographical book on Albert Camus, presents the figure of Jules Verne in a completely new light. He reveals the darker sides of the character of the pioneer of the science-fiction genre, a writer hitherto considered only a creator of adventure novels for young people, an optimist and a singer of a better future. This biography, together with the recently found novel Paris in the Twentieth Century, published by PIW, will help to change the tainted image of one of the most outstanding French authors of the turn of the 20th century.
