On the cover a library sticker - "Bibljoteka Radziechowska". Binding introlig. Signed "A.Getritz, Lviv, Rynek 41". Ferenc Liszt (1811-1886), Hungarian composer, pianist and music writer. Liszt is the author of the first monograph dedicated to Frederic Chopin (Paris 1852). Among other things, it contains two chapters of the book devoted to Chopin's works (polonaises and mazurkas, respectively), and is filled largely with descriptions of Polish dances and customs. Other parts of the work discuss, among other things, the role of the artist and art in society, characterize Chopin as a pianist and describe his circle of friends. Among the most valuable sections of the monograph - criticized by Chopin's family and later biographers - are especially Liszt's accounts of personal encounters with the Polish composer. Half leather binding, gilt lettering on spine, rubbing of binding. Good condition.
