List of losses includes about 4400 names: scholars, artists, writers, social and political activists, doctors, technicians, military. Arranged alphabetically, it lists, as far as possible, those who died a natural death, those killed in battle, those killed during hostilities, those martyred in camps. Included are oral information, underground press, other printed sources and numerous correspondence sent after the publication of "List of Losses of Polish Culture" in Tygodnik Powszechny began in July 1945.
