Paris 1777, Chez Desaint Libraire. 20x26 cm, pp. VIII, 760, VIII, 756 (2 volumes in 2 volumes - set), plates with illustrations, woodcuts in the text, period leather binding. Good condition(two plates with illustrations missing, rubbing of binding, ownership entries and stamps, minor foxing, single minor tears, traces of dampstaining at edges of first few pages in volume II).

A monumental work by French agronomist Louis Liger (1658-1717), which is a kind of encyclopedia of rural and agricultural life. The author touches on all the important issues in the management of rural property: he teaches about building, gardens and how to design them, the arrangement of the yard, horses, harvesting, bees, species of trees and shrubs, birds, cooking and running a kitchen, growing vines, fishing, hunting, etc. The whole is supplemented by dozens of plates (two are missing for completeness) and woodcuts in the text.
