Estr. XV-XVIII, 21, 220. Extensive philosophical and political summa by King Stanislaw Leszczynski (1677-1766). He published the work - as was his custom at times - under the pseudonym Philosophe bienfaisant ("philosopher benefactor"). It includes a number of contributions, as well as broader considerations. Volume I contains, among other things, treatises on true happiness, friendship, education, and three letters written under different pseudonyms. Volumes II and III are devoted entirely to remarks on the system of the Republic. Volume IV is a consideration of immortality, religion, philosophy, law, passions or pleasure, among others.

On the frontispiece of vol. I portrait of Leszczynski with a quatrefoil, engraving on the title page of each volume. - Loss (approx. 3 x 2 cm) of the back cover of the fourth volume, rubbed corners, slight cracks along the joints. Traces of moisture in places, block overall nice and clean .
