Slight browning of the edges of the covers, a trace of woodworm on the lower margin of some pages. Luxurious binding in red marocin with gilt and doublure, with the coat of arms of Louis XIII on both covers, made by Parisian bookbinder Leon Gruel (1841-1923) (sticker on rear pastedown). The book contains 69 etchings of hand-colored coats of arms of the cavaliers of the Order of the Holy Spirit conferred by Louis XIII. It was the highest order of the kingdom of France, awarded by the king, who was also Grand Master of the Order. The decoration was established by Henry III Valois to honor the Holy Spirit, as he was elected King of Poland on the feast of his exile. A beautiful piece.
