The book is the result of a trip Major Lepecki made to Madagascar as head of the Study Commission sent by the Polish government to investigate the island's suitability for agricultural colonization. This is the first Polish monograph on Madagascar. In as concise a form as possible, it contains the entirety of the country's relations, talks about its appearance, people, trade, agriculture, education, etc. It also presents the work of the Study Commission, its view of the "white" settlements and the possibility of the Polish people adapting to the climate there. Major Lepecki approached the problem of emigration to Madagascar, loud in Poland today, with great caution. Referring positively to this issue, he at the same time shuns empty phraseology, giving a picture of the possibilities of Madagascar by objectively presenting the country itself and the relations there. Infrequent.
