Cover corners rubbed, minor soiling of pages, good condition. Extremely impressive - and the first edition with these illustrations - of the German translation of Ariosto's "Orlando the Mad". The book is decorated with numerous woodcuts on plates (81) and in the text (about 600) according to drawings by Gustave Doré. The publication was issued by the thriving Breslau-based Schottländer publishing house.
