The author's sphere of interest primarily lies in the actions of the authorities of the Republic. The situation of the Jews in the state, the attitude towards them of the Church, cities, noble landlords, etc., although reflected in the work, are addressed only to the extent that they form the necessary background for the phenomena described. It is from the angle of the actions of the Republic that an attempt was made to consider the source material used. It is possible, on its basis, to try to determine how the Jews were perceived by the nobility gathered at sejmiks, and especially at partisan sejmiks or confederations. The collected material also makes it possible to grasp certain elements of August II's policy toward Jews in the Republic. The picture thus created should facilitate analyses and evaluations of the mechanisms of the formation of attitudes toward Jews in Saxon times.
