Ignacy Jozef Krasicki (1735-1801) - an outstanding poet, comedy writer. Bishop of Warmia, senator and prince, archbishop of Gniezno. Author of many poems, satires and fables. The most famous and well-loved, imaginative, humorous ones are "literary gems" in their genre.

"Satires" were first published in 1779 by Michal Gröll. On February 19 of that year Krasicki wrote from Frombork to Aleksei Husarzewski: "I have amused myself over the winter with writing satyrs, they are not eaten up, nor do they call things and people by name; let the publicum not be afraid of them, even if they go out of print. But what WP[an]a will be surprised! first on the King" (Stanislaw Augustus).

In this edition, the beautiful color illustrations, created by master Jan Marcin Szancer, have been placed between the pages on separate boards, protected by tissue paper.

Published by Książka i Wiedza, 1952.
Format 335 x 250 mm, 95 pages.
Piece in nice condition, with light rubbing of the edges and scratches on the back cover.
