KOSSAK Zofja - Pożoga. Warsaw 1935: "Rój" Publishing Society. 16d, pp. 286, [1]. Late fl. binding.
Good condition. "Pożoga" was written by the young author in 1922 and quickly gained great fame. Her account of the dramatic events, which she was an eyewitness to, was astonishing in its maturity of judgment and objectivity. By the outbreak of World War II, the book had six editions. Relatively quickly it was translated into English and Japanese. It describes the annihilation of borderland manors during the hostilities and revolutionary struggles in Ukraine in 1917-1919. Polish libraries were also lost during the looting and pogroms.
