An excellent textbook on the design, construction and arrangement of settlements with a view to the rational needs of the population, succinctly presents on specific examples (mainly based on rich illustrative material: plans, diagrams, projects) such issues as: the history of urbanism, demography, hygiene and beauty of cities, analysis of the elements of cities, construction of cities, building plans, design and regulation of building plots, planning of settlements, a large amount of iconographic material not found anywhere else on the development, building and spatial development of Warsaw of the interwar period.

Stanislaw Kluźniak (1891-1957) is the author of more than a hundred publications in the field of geodesy. He was the first to undertake a study of surveying work in land consolidation - "Measurement technique in agricultural work, that is, analysis of polygonization and consolidation technique" (1924) and "Compassation and parceling" (1930). In 1928, his greatest work, "Lower Geodesy," a fundamental position in applied geodesy from which successive generations of Polish surveyors learned, was published. In 1937 his book "Urbanism" was published, the first comprehensive Polish publication on the history and development of urban planning solutions. In 1953 came out the 6-volume "Economic Surveying," of which he was co-author and editor, in 1954 "Building Surveying," in 1957 "Elements of Surveying," and a year later "Surveying for Farmers." He is the author of numerous articles published in the pre-war "Surveying Review" and after the war "Surveying Review". He was a co-founder of the journals: "Surveying Review," "Agricultural Policy" and "Urban Planning Review."
