Klemensiewicz Zygmunt Aleksander climbed the Tatra Mountains from 1901 to 1961, including 1905-34 as a mountaineer discovering new routes. Hebegan his mountaineering with guides (1901-05), but became independent and in 1905-14 was one of the leading mountaineers, making numerous new ascents, most often in the company of Roman Kordys and Jerzy Maślanka , as well as Aleksander Znamięcki and others. He participated in the first ascents of Zadni Kościelec (in 1905), Hruba Turnia (1906), Wsch. Fork Peak (1906), Blue Turnia (1907), Great Robber Turnia (1907) and others. Among his new routes were the Kościelec Ridge (in 1905 and 1906), Basztowa Przełęcz from the east (1905), Batijowiecki Peak by the north wall (1906), Krywań by the north wall (1906), Frog Horse by the ridge (1907), Niżnie Rysy by the north-west wall. In addition, he earned a prominent position in winter mountaineering with his first ascents in 1909 of the Wieliczka Mountains' Granats, the Batyżowiecki Peak and the Złobisty Peak. He was also one of the pioneers (since 1906) of winter tourism and alpine skiing in Poland, but mainly in the Eastern Carpathians.
