" Podweryszki (Подварышкі) is a small village located in the Voronovo region of Belarus, a few kilometers east of Bieniakon and a few kilometers south of the Belarusian-Lithuanian border.
An interesting manor complex has been preserved here on the territory of a former land estate. The local estate in the 19th century belonged to the Rymsz family, and after World War I until 1939. - To the Kiersnowski family.
The neoclassical Kiersnowski mansion, built in 1930-1931 by Tadeusz Kiersnowski to a design by arch. Stefan Narębski. It is a rectangular-plan, one-story building with a two-story central part decorated with a four-column portico with a triangular pediment, covered with a high roof.
The mansion was used by the local kolkhoz after World War II. It now houses the village council (sielsowiet), and the building itself has recently been carefully renovated. Fragments of the manor park with linden avenues have also been preserved. In the park near the manor lies a mysterious stone of a strange color, which according to local tradition is a fragment of a meteorite. About 1 km northeast of the manor, among the fields, there is a devastated small family cemetery with stone tombstones of the Rymsz family. In the interwar period Jan Bulhak, related to the owners, often visited Podweryszki, and immortalized the manor and its surroundings in numerous photographs.
Professor Ryszard Kiersnowski, a historian, author of several books on cultural history, spent his childhood and teenage years in Podweryszki, and during World War II was commander of a Home Army unit operating in the Vilnius region. He described his memories of that period in his book There and Then. In Podweryszki in Vilnius and the Wilderness 1939-1945, published in Warsaw in 1994 and reissued in 2007. "
