M. Skonieczny (1897-1971), born in Inowrocław; during World War I he fought in the German army (including in Palestine), participated in the Greater Poland Uprising. He served in the Second Republic in Grudziądz in the 59th pp, known as the Children of Kuyavia Regiment, and from 1933 in the Bialystok garrison. In 1938 he commanded the Drwęca battalion of GO Silesia during the occupation of Zaolzie; in 1939. commanded the 1st Battalion of the 59th Infantry Regiment of Greater Poland (this regiment fought in the area of Bydgoszcz and Gogolin, and later Brześć Kujawski; participated in the Battle of the Bzura River and the defense of Warsaw); was taken prisoner and accused of murdering German civilians, imprisoned in oflag II C in Woldenberg-Dobiegniewo, after the war he lived in Bydgoszcz.
