Lot description Show orginal version
A collection of extremely valuable historical memorabilia in drawing, graphics and text.

Natalia Kicka was born in 1806 in Vilna as the eldest of the four daughters of Piotr Bisping, marshal of the nobility of the Volkovysk district, and Józefa Kicka of Kitek coat of arms Gozdawa. In 1831 she married her uncle, General Ludwik Kicki, who was killed in May of the same year at the Battle of Ostroleka. Her only daughter, Ludwika Marianna Helena, died in 1853 at the age of 22. Natalia Kicka was active in charity and politics (she supported, among other things, the January insurgents). Her diaries are a valuable source for the history of the November Uprising and social and political life in the Kingdom of Poland. She collected national memorabilia, works of art, historical documents, as well as Polish coins and medals. She died in Wawrszawa in 1888.

The albums on offer are the fruit of her patriotic and artistic activities. While traveling in Poland and Europe, she visited places and people related to Polish history. She recorded the memorabilia and symbols of Polishness she encountered in drawings and graphics, often with extensive commentary. The result of her work are the two albums offered.
