One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is Ken Kesey's 1962 novel about enslavement and the longing for freedom.

Kesey portrayed electroshock therapy and lobotomy treatments in the book. It was originally staged as a play, and in 1975 a film adaptation of the novel, with the same title, was premiered by Miloš Forman. In 2005, the American weekly Time listed One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest on its list of the 100 best English-language novels.
