The publication commemorates the 400th anniversary of the death of John Montanus (1532-1604), the discoverer of the so-called Strzegom seal earth, a clay with specific medicinal properties. The clay, after extraction, was molded into discs on which special patterns were imprinted, (hence the name of the peculiarity), and then sold as medicine.
A masterpiece book treating an exceptionally rare branch of collecting - it presents not only the patterns imprinted on Strzegom's seal earth, but also presents terra sigillata from other regions, catalogs them, gives the exact mineral composition and differences, etc.
A unique item.
