The book is an answer to many questions that have long been raised on the subject of Polish archery.
Its relatively small size is the result of the fact that it deals exclusively with issues that are overlooked in the literature on the subject especially it is about the conclusions, emerging from the analysis of finds and sources. The history of Polish mounted archery, existing after the 18th century, is presented here. Both Polish archery on foot, on horseback, as well as equestrianism itself, stood out from its eastern and western neighbors, showing native features. In order to present the indigenous basis of horseback archery, the book focuses on its medieval history.
The bows used in Poland belonged not only to the northern reflex bow, but to its variety typical of Poland and the Baltics. It was used effectively from the beginning, using drawing techniques different from those in the east and west, but the same as those of the Baltics and Hungarians.
The bow and its use were a living element in Polish culture. Even the prototype of Podbipięta's death was the final battle between two Polish mounted archers, stripped of their horses and surrounded by Tatars. In it they used only bows.
However, there is a lack of studies on this subject, which would gather rich archaeological or source material. As a result, those interested in the subject have difficulty finding answers to such simple questions as what quivers were used in Poland in the Middle Ages....
