Description:
Foreword by Alexander Kraushar.
First complete edition of the famous guide to Vasa's Warsaw, decorated with three fold-out panoramas of the capital. The book, written in verse form, is a thorough guide to Warsaw and its architectural sites. The work is invaluable for its expert description of the city during the period of its most brilliant development before the disasters of the Swedish wars.
Adam Jarzębski (1590-1649), son of a bourgeois from Warka, musician and composer, writer, builder, was a preceptor to the sons of the magnates (Lubomirski and Radzyminski), and co-builder of the palace in Ujazdów.
The first printing of the work (1643) was already a great rarity, as evidenced by the fact that a hundred years after its publication Andrzej Załuski, co-founder of the Załuski Library, complained that he could not purchase the "Guestbook" and ordered the text to be transcribed from a borrowed piece.
Waldemar Berłowski (1931-2022) - economist, member of the Society of Friends of the Book (since 1986), and later of the Society of Polish Bibliophiles in Warsaw.
Jan Nepomucen Żarnowski (1852-1926) - state activist, president of the Supreme Chamber of Control.
