Jan of Lańcut was probably from Landshut in Bavaria; he resided in Cracow in 1499-1501 and from 1513 probably until his death in 1516, a famous Polish mathematician, professor at the Cracow academy, author of "Arithmetic" (1513), which served as a textbook for a long time.
