*Karol Wilhelm Scheibler (1820 - 1881)-German industrialist, one of the largest industrialists in Lodz, called the "king of cotton".
Ludwik Grohman (1826-1889)- Lodz factory owner and industrialist.
By merging Grohman's and Scheibler's plants into a single entity in 1919, the "United Textile Plants of K. Scheibler and L. Grohman." They succeeded in creating the world's largest cotton joint-stock company. They advertised themselves, writing that in one hour they produced thread of a length that could circle the globe twice.
