Published with great panache, the largest and most impressive edition of the Bible in the Polish language. Printed with great care by the renowned firm of R. G. Teubner in Leipzig, the text is illustrated with 230 woodcuts by Gustave Doré [1832-1883], the famous French painter and printmaker, today considered classics. Banach 449, item 715.
BDB condition-/ rust spots [foxing] in places, spine of one volume after minor restoration, minor rubbing of gilt, nevertheless perfectly preserved publisher's binding, which considering the huge format and weight of the book [ca. 15kg], but also the popularity of the publishing house [which was mercilessly read] is an exceptional rarity on the market/ a VERY EFFECTIVE piece.
