Another World. Zapiski sowieckie - memoirs of Gustaw Herling-Grudzinski, written in 1949-1950, first published in English translation in 1951 (titled A World Apart: a Memoir of the Gulag), and then for the first time in Polish in 1953 in London (in Poland the book was first published in 1988). The work belongs to the circle of camp literature, being a literary elaboration of the author's memoirs of his imprisonment in the gulag in Yercegov near Arkhangelsk in 1940-1942.
