A unique, bibliophilic-value, hand-curated catalog of the coin collection, established in 1873.
The catalog constitutes Volume VII, which implies that it describes only a part of a very large collection of world coins. One can find in it descriptions of coins from most European countries, but also South America. The catalog includes coins from the 17th to the 20th centuries. The youngest coin included in the catalog is a Latvian 5 lati from 1929.
From the contents of the catalog's entries, one can conclude that the collection was kept in a numismatic cabinet and the whole collection (collection, catalog and cabinet) passed into the hands of successive collectors over the years.
The catalog contains descriptions and pencil outlines of the coins in the collection, with a breakdown of each drawer in the numismatic cabinet. The catalog features many additions, corrections, annotations and deletions, probably reflecting changes in the collection.
The catalog was kept in German.
Catalog bound in later hardcover.
