(Estr. T. 17, variant with knight). The chronicle describes the history of Poland (from Lech), Lithuania, Samogitia, Ruthenia, Mazovia, Prussia, Pomerania, Inflants and Moscow. The work is embellished with woodcuts depicting images of the monarchs of Poland, the rulers of Lithuania, the coats of arms of Poland and Lithuania and much more. Particularly noteworthy is a large folding woodcut depicting the Polish Sejm with an image of Stefan Batory. The offered second edition does not differ from the Cracow edition of 1578, except for the number of woodcuts, and from page 111 goes the supplement "Supplementum de Rebus Gestis inter Regem Poloniae., Stephanum et Magnum Ducem...". The book was very popular, not only in the country. The first edition was followed by editions in 1581, 1582, 1584, 1626, 1627. The work was dedicated to King Stefan Batory. Gwagnin A. (1538 - 1613), Polish historian, of Italian origin. The above chronicle was translated into many languages, including Italian (1583), Czech (1590). The book block is detaching from the binding, plywood with heavy soiling including the last page of the text, here and there are minor soiling and staining, traces of woodworm; secondary binding with scuffs and non. losses. No genealogical table. very rare
