From the description: The purpose of this book is to provide an overview of contemporary printmaking techniques. The authors focused on the technical side of developing printmaking by various methods, but at all times they kept in mind the broader artistic perspective. Therefore, they tried to place the technical tips in a more general context of art making and laced them with a mesh of concepts that relate to the process of developing a printmaking. Some of these are specific to fine art printmaking, while others apply to all fields of art. In doing so, they tried to give the fullest possible picture of contemporary printmaking, in which there would be room for both abstract and figurative art, for cartoon style, but also for more poetic means of expression. The authors used works by individual artists, but also engravings prepared together with master printmakers, those that function in the traditional environment of a gallery or workshop, but also those that leave their walls and are shown in unusual places. The multiplicity of approaches and strategies shown for creating graphic art confirms the fact that it is still a dynamically developing field of art.
