The only publication of its kind: the best designs of Polish books, selected and compiled by the outstanding graphic designer and expert on Polish editing, Janusz Górski. Meticulously prepared and compiled, the volume contains nearly a thousand color illustrations and expert discussion of individual designs - from those created just after the war to quite contemporary ones. In his selection, the author was guided mainly by the high artistic value of the designs, wishing to recall the most interesting and revealing ones. However, he also sometimes reached for examples that, in his opinion, failed, in order to point out the most common mistakes made. The book consists of several parts - the author discusses in cross-section various issues related to formal and technical aspects of designing typographic compositions, to conclude with a chronological review of the best projects and several conversations with the most outstanding Polish artists and creators, including Zofia Darowska, Władysław Brykczyński and Józef Wilkon. It is ABSOLUTELY a feast for the eye: over four hundred pages, almost a thousand of the most beautiful covers.
