Description:
Outstanding work by Wojciech Gerson (1831-1901), painter, illustrator, educator, which was published in notebooks in 1860-1866. The work was published in sheets. The whole included 9 sheets containing 27 portraits. The offered piece contains portraits of 24 of the most famous Polish hetmans: Wincenty Gosiewski, Stefan Czarniecki, Mikołaj Potocki, Stanisław Żółkiewski, Wa- cław Rzewuski, Stanisław Denhoff, Jan Zamoyski, Feliks Potocki, Adam Sieniawskie, Jan Klemens Branicki, Paweł Sapieha, Krzysztof Mikołaj Radziwiłł, Roman Sanguszko,Józef Potocki, Hieronim Lubomirski, Jan Sapieha, Jan Tarnowski, Stanisław Rewera Potocki, Janusz Radziwill, Jerzy Radziwill, Jędrzej Sapieha, Jan Karol Chodkiewicz, Stanisław Chomętowski, Krzysztof Radziwill.The portraits according to drawings by Wojciech Gerson were made by two prominent Warsaw lithographers Henryk Aschenbrenner and Wladyslaw Dümler. Next to the portraits are short biographies written by Julian Bartoszewicz (1821-1870).
