(...)A continuation of the great work of Colonel Stanislaw Gembarzewski, who led the study of the history of the Polish uniform and military dress to the year 1831.In the circle of people dealing with old weapons and colors in Poland, the position of monumental publication, so to speak, "starter" for further research and consideration, is occupied by the four-volume edition of the work of Colonel Bronislaw Gembarzewski: "Żołnierz polski, ubiór, uzbrojenie i oporządzenie", from 1960-1966. The life's work of the distinguished doyen of Polish uniformrology, director of the Museum of the Army (now the Museum of the Polish Army), was lost during the Warsaw Uprising, but was recorded earlier in the form of photocopies. The prints made from the negatives were decided to be processed and edited; this was handled by a team of MWP employees: custodian Zofia Stefanska, rotary officer Stanislaw Gepner (B. Gembarzewski's colleagues from before the war) and Lieutenant Colonel Karol Linder. The result of the painstaking, persistent effort of the "reconstructors" was a four-volume album publication, without which probably none of the Polish experts and lovers of ancient weapons and colors can imagine working(...)
