John Galsworthy (born 1867, died January 31, 1933 in London) - British novelist, novelist, poet and playwright, representative of critical realism, in English literature, traditionally called "the epic of the Victorian era", recognized during his lifetime as one of the most outstanding writers of the turn of the 20th century. Winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature for 1932; from the committee's justification, he received it "for his great prose art culminating in The Saga of the Forsyte Family, the author's multi-volume river novel, on which he worked for more than 20 years of creative activity.
