Extremely valuable medical work of Galen, translated by many medical scholars, among whom we find: (in part quarta classis): De Urinis according to the translation and interpretation of Jozef Struś (1510 - 1568), humanist, translator, court physician of Sigismund the Old and SigismundAugustus , scientist famous for his studies of the pulse; (in part sexta classis): 2"Polish" works: "De venea sectione adversus erasistratum" and "De venea sectione adversus erasistratum, qui Romae degebant, eodem," translated and interpreted by the Cracow humanist Jozef Tectander (właśc. Zimmermann) (1500-1543 in Cracow), who, having studied at the Cracow Academy, was a doctor of medicine at the University of Padua. He was friends with Erasmus of Rotterdam and Josephus Strus. Galen - actually Claudius Galenus (c. 130 - 200 AD) - Roman physician of Greek descent, an eminent anatomist, talented researcher and writer, one of the most distinguished ancient physicians (after Hippocrates). He exerted a tremendous influence on the development of medical science in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. On the stickers own sticker: "Thomas Thirmair Philos: & Medic: Doctor". Traces of non. dampstaining and staining. Vol.1: early notations on the front pastedown and early numerous marginalia, binding: retained metal buckles, scuffs and rubbed corners. Vol.2: Numerous early marginalia, plywood detached, buckle marks, scuffs and abrasions to binding leather. Volume 3: Retained metal buckles, rubbing of binding. Volume 4: Printed text preceded by two manuscript pages, fraying of the edges of the first few pages, 2 metal buckles preserved, abrasions and rubbing of the leather at the corners. Very rare .
