Adam Mickiewicz, "Pan Tadeusz" - first volume of the first edition of the Polish national epic, published in Paris in 1834 by Aleksander Yelowicki. A rare and sought-after first printing on the antiquarian market.

Piece comes from the school library of the former Royal Maria Magdalena Gymnasium in Poznan - old library stamps, as well as an inventory sticker affixed to the inside of the front cover.

The first volume contains Books I-VI.

Volume in old library hardcover, with sticker inventory number, binding with numerous rubbing, on surface, edges and corners; back cover taped; book block tight. Paper yellowed, with local stains. Portrait card missing. On some pages former corrections (corrections in the text) and annotations in black pen; title page of Book Three glued on both sides; on pages 171-172 and 173-173 a part of the upper margin was cut out (probably to remove the annotations made on them); page edges soiled, dry, rusting paper.

Pages: 240.
