Ludwik Finkel (1858-1930) was a Polish historian and creator of the Bibliography of Polish History. He was born in Bursztyn, and his father was a court assistant professor. After graduating from high school in Ternopil, he studied at the University of Lviv, where he attended lectures by Ksawery Liske and Roman Pilat. In 1875 he founded the secret self-education circle Brothers of Freedom, which spread historical and literary ideas. He was one of the founders of the Circle of Historians at the Academic Reading Room. He actively researched Polish historiography, and his works had a major impact on the development of historical science in Poland. [PSB]
