[Exhibition catalog] Handbags, purses and wallets from the collection of the National Museum in Krakow, circulation: National Museum in Krakow, Krakow 2009, p. 369, dimensions 17 x 24 cm. Numerous illustrations in the text. Text in Polish and English. Softcover, publisher.

The publication is devoted to the exhibition "Handbags, purses and wallets", from the collection of the National Museum in Krakow. The catalog presents the history and characteristics of the collection (the best in Poland) and the history of the handbag, as a fashion accessory, from medieval times to the 1970s. The handbag is not just a simple accessory to a woman's outfit, but is a kind of "symbol of femininity." The overview of handbags presented by the authors of the exhibition and the catalog, shows the style transformations that handbags underwent with the changes in fashion. The exhibition includes European, Asian and African musealia, from the 17th to the second half of the 20th century.
