Editors-in-Chief : Konrad Górski (1895-1990), historian and theoretician of literature, professor at the universities of Vilnius and Torun and at the IBL PAN. His scientific publications dealt with Old Polish literature, Romantic literature (mainly the works of Adam Mickiewicz), the writings of Arians and the theory of scientific editing. Stefan Hrabec (1912-1972), linguist, polonist and Slavist, professor at the universities of Torun and Lodz. From 1950 he headed a team of lexicographers at the IBL PAN, which worked on the preparation of the Dictionary of the Language of Adam Mickiewicz. He published many works on the history of the Polish language, Polish and Slavic dialectology and onomastics;
