Jerzy Desselberger (1931-2013) graphic artist, ornithologist, secretary and longtime member of the Faunistic Commission of the Polish Zoological Society. He and his wife pioneered bird care, organizing and running a bird rehabilitation center in their Warsaw apartment for nearly 25 years, which later became the inspiration for the Bird Asylum at the Warsaw Zoological Garden.
