DEOTYMA Jadwiga Łuszczewska - Panienka z okienka (1946)

Panienka z okienka is a historical novel for young people by Jadwiga Łuszczewska (Deotymy), first published under the title Panienka in 1893 in Warsaw, and under its current name for the second time in 1898. In 1959 a theatrical and in 1964 a film adaptation of the novel was made.

The story is set in Gdansk in the 17th century. The content is the love story of a sailor of the royal navy and the beautiful Hedwig - a girl once rescued from Turkish captivity and raised by a Danzig craftsman, often looking out of the window of an apartment building called "Amber House."
