Jan Szuścik (1879 - 1941) - politician and local government activist, member of the Silesian Sejm from 1922-1930, mayor of Łazy from 1938-1939, folk and national activist, educator. Born in Guldowy, a hamlet of the village of Krasna (now Cieszyn), as the tenth child of the numerous offspring of the family of the farmer Pawel and Anna of Pastuszko. Szuścik carried out lively educational activities for the Polishness of Cieszyn Silesia. He was one of the founders of "Unity," taking care of Cieszyn's connectivity with other districts and emphasizing Polish language and history. He was arrested as part of the Intelligenzaktion Schlesien and died in a concentration camp.
