Swinarski Artur Marya - The Curse of the Sea. Poems 1935-1945, Nakładem Księgarni Stefan Kamińskiego, Krakow 1945, on the title page dedication "Irena Babel in token of passion" with the author's autograph, p. 32, dimensions 17 x 24 cm, booklet cover, brittle paper, losses in the corners and on the edges of the pages, rubbing of the cover on the spine.

Irena Babel (1914 - 1993) - Polish actress and theater director, also educator and translator. Graduate of the Theater Studio at the Old Theater in Krakow (1946). She made her debut as an actress in 1946 and began working at the Teatr Kameralny TUR in Krakow. In 1947 she moved to the J. Slowacki Theater, where she performed until 1949. Then she became the director of the Comedy and Musical Stage of Warsaw's New Theater (1949-1950), and then of the J. Slowacki Theater in Cracow (1950-1955). In 1955 she began working at the Powszechny Theater in Warsaw - first as a director (1955-1956) and then as artistic director (1956-1963). Her next place of work was the Classical Theater in Warsaw, where she was a director from 1963-1966, and later served as general and artistic director at the People's Theater in Krakow - Nowa Huta (1966-1971). In 1970, she became a teacher at the PWST in Cracow (1970-1989). From 1971-1972 she directed at the J. Slowacki Theater.

Artur Maria Swinarski (1900 - 1965) - Polish poet, satirist, playwright, visual artist. His parents were Stanislaw and Kazimiera née Slomczewska. After graduating from high school, he came to Poznan, where he studied Germanic studies, art history and stage design. In 1918-1920 he was associated with the literary circles of "Zdrój", where he debuted as a graphic artist. He belonged to the art group "Bunt". In 1919 he had his first solo exhibition of paintings. In 1922, he was the personal secretary of Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz. In Poznań, together with Roman Wilkanowicz, he exhibited satirical nativity scenes in Ludwik Puget's "Pink Cuckoo" and the cabarets Ździebko and Klub Szyderców. In 1934-1937 he lived in Cracow, where he headed the literary department of "Czas", and staged satirical nativity scenes (together with Magdalena Samozwaniec). From 1937 he lived in Gdynia, where he edited the literary section of "Kurier Bałtycki." During the occupation he stayed in Cracow. He died in exile.
