Joyce Gold was born in Ireland around 1771; in 1799 he founded the Naval Chronicle with Bunney, whose sister Ann he married. After the partnership dissolved in 1802, he continued on his own until 1818. He then worked as a letterpress printer in London and retired to Heslington near York, where he died in 1854.
