Costumes of the Russian Empire. An extremely valuable and important illustrated account of the history of the costumes and clothing of the Russian Empire. Depicts peoples from across the spectrum of Russian society, including peasants, nobles, merchants, priests and others in their traditional costumes. The author of the French and English descriptions relating to the included illustrations is Edward Harding. The first edition of this work was published in 1803, but the second edition, presented here, is considered more valuable. It contains exceptionally beautiful, colorful aquatints. Binding: brown leather, with gilt on the spine. Binding with scuffs and no damage. A complete and nice piece.
